5 Do’s for Facebook
Social Media starts afresh….well every 15 to 30 minutes. Known as the infinite scroll, it only takes a few seconds to minutes for a user to scroll through their Facebook feed. What does this mean for your business? Firstly, you have to appear in a relevant user’s feed. Step two, you have to get the user to stop and take in your post. Consequently there are a few things to consider when creating and implementing posts on Facebook. We’ve put together the five must do’s for Facebook.
1. Understand Facebook’s purpose
“Facebook helps you connect and share with the people in your life”
The new algorithm on Facebook respects this “purpose”. Organic feed will now primarily consist of posts that friends make. Not necessarily likes and comments, but information shared. To take advantage of this, posts have to be relevant and shareable.
2. Make it evergreen
The concept of an evergreen strategy is to share content that evokes a feeling of cause for the user, which then leads to an action. In short posts need to be engaging, causing users to like, comment and share. What this means is more visual posts with less sales talk. Also be sure to post relevant content with correct spelling and straightforward sentences. Posts have to be informational, educational or entertaining and add value within your sector.
3. Frequency
Research on posts frequencies has shown that a company should not post more than twice a day on their Facebook page. More than two posts a day and the comments and likes automatically drop. It is important to stay active on Facebook though. Post content consistently, and make sure to be responsive to any interaction resulting from the post.
4. Keeping up with the online Jones’
Once your brand has a solid online presence, you have created a Facebook personality as such. But keep in mind the infinite scroll! Do not get too comfortable with your brand’s presence. Reinvent your brand’s way of doing things to stay fresh and relevant to the trends.
5. Put your money where your mouth is
Yes, putting money behind ads is necessary. The reality is that your posts may not make the impact you want organically. Promoted ads on Facebook are cost effective and give you great targeting. You have access to the correct audience, at the right time and with creative ads you can overcome the infinite scroll.
